SN (Serial Number) 10710 comes alive!

The aircraft build for the SR20 G7 has begun! On April 15 2025, the 2 half sections of Serial Number 10710 have been bonded (glued) together. The process involves using special composite adhesives to connect the 2 halves of the fuselage, after which they are placed in an autoclave (high pressure high temperature oven) for curing (hardening) of the adhesive. This creates a very strong bond that is the hallmark of high strength Cirrus Aircraft composite airframe structures. The bonded structure is then trimmed and drilled to removes excess material from the bonding process and create opening for access panels, windows and other fuselage access areas. Cirrus Aircraft uses high tech trim and drill 7-axis robotic machines to reduce the cost of tooling and increase flexibility for manufacturing.

Here are some key facts regarding the Cirrus SR series aircraft highlighted at this initial stage of aircraft assembly:


  • Approximately 120 composite parts make up the fuselage, wing, and horizontal stabilizer.

  • Metal mesh is strategically placed throughout the fuselage skin to dissipate the voltage from static electricity or a potential lighting strike.

  • This is the best place to see where the Kevlar straps are imbedded into the fuselage skin and attached to the airframe and eventually the parachute (CAPS – Cirrus Airframe Parachute System). When the parachute is deployed, the straps break away from the fuselage but remain attached to the airframe.

  • Each strap can hold 20,000lbs. Cirrus Aircraft uses 2 straps per aircraft and each strap can suspend 5-6 automobiles!
